Ford has four different green engine options: EcoBoost, Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid, and All-Electric. What are the differences?

EcoBoost is our most widely available option, found in the Fiesta, Fusion, Escape, Explorer, F-150, and more. It is a traditional gasoline engine, but it utilizes turbocharging and direct injection to maximize fuel economy.

Ford currently has two hybrid vehicles in its lineup, the C-Max Hybrid, and the Ford Fusion Hybrid. These cars do not need to be plugged in, instead using braking energy to automatically recharge the battery. They use an electric motor and gas engine in combination.

Plug-in hybrids, like the Ford Fusion Energi are a step above the hybrid in efficiency. They can drive on their electric motor alone for short trips, and use a gas engine to supplement their electric power. These work best when plugged in to charge.

The Focus Electric is Ford's only all-electric vehicle so far, driving entirely on a rechargeable electric battery. However, Ford has recently announced plans to bring 13 new EV models to market by 2020, so our new inventory may be brimming with all-electric vehicles in a few years.
